Why community-led projects matter

Some of the best charitable ideas come from the people closest to the need. Here is how we want to listen — responsibly.

The people who understand a problem best are usually the ones living closest to it. A teacher knows which children are slipping through the cracks. A neighbour knows which family is struggling quietly. Good ideas rarely start in a boardroom; they start on the ground.

Proposals, not crowdfunding

Through Community-Led Project Proposals, anyone can suggest a charitable project for our trustees to review. This is not crowdfunding, and proposers do not control charitable funds. If a proposal is approved, it may become an official Foundation project.

Any pledges or future donations linked to that project are received, managed and governed by the Foundation, and used only for approved charitable purposes. Proposers are welcome to help with delivery — but the responsibility for funds, verification and reporting stays with us.

How a proposal travels

  • Someone submits a project proposal.
  • Trustees review it, and may approve, decline, or ask for more information.
  • Approved proposals become Foundation projects, open for pledges of support.
  • Once giving is live, supporters can donate to approved projects.
  • The Foundation oversees delivery, verification and reporting.

It is a way to stay close to real need without losing the accountability that trust depends on. If you have an idea, we would genuinely like to hear it.
