Gift Aid

Make your donation worth 25% more, at no extra cost to you — once our registration is complete.

Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that lets charities reclaim the basic-rate tax already paid on donations from UK taxpayers. It means that for every £1 you give, the Foundation can claim an extra 25p from HMRC — at no additional cost to you.

Please note: Gift Aid can only be claimed once the Foundation is a registered charity and enrolled with HMRC for Gift Aid. Both are currently pending. When online giving opens, you will be able to add a Gift Aid declaration to each eligible donation.

The Gift Aid declaration

When giving opens, eligible donors will be asked to confirm the following declaration:

“I want to Gift Aid my donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past four years to The Abdul Majid Foundation. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year, it is my responsibility to pay any difference.”

Who is eligible

You can use Gift Aid if:

  • you are a UK taxpayer; and
  • the Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you pay in the relevant tax year is at least equal to the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations to all charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs that year.

Gift Aid cannot be claimed on donations made on behalf of other people or organisations, on donations in return for goods or services, or on payments that are not gifts.

Your responsibilities

  • Please let us know if you no longer pay sufficient tax, change your name or home address, or wish to cancel your declaration.
  • If you pay tax at the higher or additional rate, you can claim the difference between your rate and the basic rate on your donation through your Self Assessment tax return.
  • To claim Gift Aid, we will need your full name and home address. This information is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
