Who can receive Zakat
The eight categories
The Qur'an (9:60) sets out eight categories of people eligible to receive Zakat. We keep Zakat funds distinct and distribute them only to those entitled.

Are you a registered charity yet?
Not yet. The Abdul Majid Foundation is being established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in England and Wales — a single registration with the Charity Commission that both creates the organisation and registers it as a charity. We are preparing our application, and no charity number has been issued. This website is an early information page while the Foundation is being established, and we will update it as registration progresses.
Can I donate right now?
Donation facilities will open as our registration progresses. Until then, giving may be limited or handled in accordance with applicable rules. You're very welcome to set up your intended gift and register your interest — we'll be in touch the moment giving opens.
Will my donation be Zakat-eligible?
Yes. Once giving opens, you'll be able to designate your gift as Zakat. Zakat is distributed only to those eligible to receive it under the eight categories set out in the Qur'an (9:60), and we will keep Zakat funds distinct from other donations.
What is your 100% donation policy?
Our commitment is that 100% of public donations are applied to charitable projects rather than to running costs. Administration and operating costs are met separately — through Gift Aid, trustee and family contributions, dedicated administration donations and sponsorship. Where a payment provider deducts a transaction fee before funds reach us, the Foundation covers that shortfall from the same separate funding.
Can I add Gift Aid to my donation?
If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid adds 25p to every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid can only be reclaimed once the Foundation holds charitable status recognised by HMRC — until then we'll record your declaration and apply it when that's in place.
Where will my donation go?
Support will reach people in genuine need in the UK and around the world — orphans, refugees and war-affected families, food banks and homelessness initiatives, clean-water projects, education, emergency relief and hardship grants. Gifts to 'Where most needed' let the trustees direct help to where it matters most.
How will you be accountable?
As the Foundation is formally established, our governance, policies and reporting will be developed in line with Charity Commission guidance for England and Wales. We are committed to transparency and to accounting carefully for every gift.
